OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College junior Lizzy Julian (Mattawan) has earned 2010 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) first-team honors in women's soccer. All-MIAA honors are based on a player's statistics during the eight-game league schedule.
Under the direction of 11th year Head Coach Hans Morgan, Olivet posted a 13-5-2 overall record and was fourth in the MIAA standings with a 4-3-1 record. The 13 wins were the third most in school history for a single season and the most since 1999 when the Comets had 14 wins.
Julian played in all eight games, starting seven, for Olivet at the forward position. She scored six goals, including two game-winners, for a team-leading 12 points. Julian also led the team with 22 shots, with 12 being placed on-goal. For the entire 20-game schedule, she tied for the MIAA lead in goals scored (17) and game-winning goals (6). She was second in goals per game (0.85), points (39), points per game (1.95), shots (74) and shots per game (3.70).
"Lizzy is a great talent and had a tremendous year for us," said Morgan. "She was definitely an offensive leader for us and made a difference on the field. That said, Lizzy could not have accomplished it without some very talented teammates as well. It's a great honor for her and the team. We are proud of her and the honor is certainly well deserved."
