Women's soccer team falls to Albion, 2-1, in double overtime
The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Albion College, 2-1, today in double overtime at the Olivet soccer field.
The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Albion College, 2-1, today in double overtime at the Olivet soccer field.
Olivet freshman Kelli McKee (Canton High School) scored the first goal of the contest in the 34th minute on a pass from freshman Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph High School). Albion tied the score with 16:40 left in regulation play, and then won the game in the sixth minute of the second overtime period.
Despite the loss, sophomore Gretchen Ford (Harbor Springs High School) played an outstanding game in goal. She faced 31 shots and made 23 saves. The Comets were held to just six shots, including two each by McKee and Stickney.
The Lady Comets are idle until next Wednesday, Oct. 1 when they travel to play Calvin College at 4 p.m. Their next home contest is Saturday, Oct. 4 against Adrian College at 12 p.m.
