Larson and Vines lead UOlivet at Bruce Dickey Open

ALMA, Mich. – Juniors Kyan Larson and Juwan Vines finished third in their respective weight class to lead The University of Olivet wrestling team at the Alma College / Bruce Dickey Open held today at Art Smith Arena.
FOR THE COMETS
- Vines posted a 4-1 record to place third in the 165-pound bracket. After losing his first match, he rebounded to win four straight matches – two by technical fall and two by major decision. Vines outscored his opponents, 73 to 21 in the four wins. His loss was to the eventual second-place wrestler from NCAA Division II Grand Valley State University.
- Larson had a 3-1 record to finish third in the 174-pound bracket. He won his first match by technical fall (16-1) before losing the semifinal match, 11-8. Larson bounced back to win the consolation bracket semifinal match, 13-9, and the third-place match by medical forfeit.
- With a 4-2 record, senior Darren McLeod claimed sixth-place in the 157-pound bracket. He scored bonus points in his four wins with two pins (4:52, 0:35), one technical fall (15-0) and one major decision (10-0). McLeod's losses were to unattached wrestlers.

- Olivet resumes its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule next Tuesday, January 29, when it hosts Alma at 7 p.m.
