ALLENDALE, Mich. – The University of Olivet wrestling team was shutout by Grand Valley State University (GVSU), 45-0, in a non-conference dual match tonight at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lakers scored bonus points in seven of the 10 bouts.
- Grand Valley State is in its third year as an NCAA Division II sport. Prior to that, the Lakers competed as a part of a club sport under the National Collegiate Wrestling Association.
FOR THE COMETS
- At 133 pounds, freshman Trenden Bashore lost a 5-2 decision. A first-period takedown was the difference in the match.
- At 174 pounds, junior Juwan Vines fell by an 8-4 score. He scored the Comets' lone takedown against the Lakers.
- At 184 pounds, sophomore Jack Ward dropped a close 2-1 decision. Both wrestlers earned an escape point, but his opponent earned the riding time point to win the match.
UP NEXT
- The Comets are off until January 9-10 when they participate in the 2026 National Wrestling Coaches Association / USMC Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships. The event takes place at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
