Kamali and Herrema lead UOlivet wrestling to runner-up finish at ONU Polar Bear Invitational

ADA, Ohio – Seniors Benyamin Kamali and Tyler Herrema won their weight class to help The University of Olivet wrestling team finish second at the 43rd Annual Ohio Northern University Polar Bear Invitational today inside the ONU Sports Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets totaled 207 points. Ohio Northern was first with 231 points.
- Kamali posted a 5-0 record to win the 125-pound title. His wins were two pins, one technical fall, one major decision and one minor decision. In the championship match, Kamali pinned Colin Mellott from Ohio Northern in the first period (1:27).
- Senior Tyler Herrema had a 5-0 record to capture the 149-pound championship. His wins were one pin, two technical falls and two major decisions. In the championship match, Herrema defeated Casper Caizzo from Ohio Northern, 17-7.
- Senior Dylan Phelps at 141 pounds and senior Kody Krupp both finished second in their weight class. Phelps' wins were two minor decisions and a technical fall. He fell to three-time NCAA All-American Jacob Reed from Ohio Northern, 7-0, in the championship. Krupp had a 4-1 record, with three pins and major decision. He lost the championship match, 9-0, to Gavin Layman from Ohio Northern.
- Placing third were senior Robert Davids at 133 pounds, senior Ramiro Guerrero at 157 pounds, freshman Jack Ward at 184 pounds and senior Boe Eckman at 285 pounds.
