Krupp wins 197-pound title at Trine Invitational

ANGOLA, Ind. – Led by senior Kody Krupp's first-place finish at 197 pounds, The University of Olivet wrestling team posted 10 total top four finishes at Trine (Ind.) University Invitational. Four Comets finished second in their respective weight class.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Krupp and freshman teammate Jack Ward faced each other in the 197-pound championship. Krupp used takedown in the first period, reversal in the second period, takedown in the third period and the riding time point to post a 9-2 win. To get to the championship, Krupp had two pins and a technical fall, while Ward had a technical fall and a minor decision victory.
- At 125 pounds, senior Benyamin Kamali finished second. He won his first match by tech fall and pinned his opponent in the second round. Kamali then won back-to-back minor decisions in the quarterfinals and semifinals. He lost the championship match, 11-9.
- At 157 pounds, senior Ramiro Guerrero placed second. He had two pins and two decision wins to reach the championship match, which he lost 12-4.
- At 285 pounds, senior Boe Eckman was second. He won his first three matches with first-period pins. Eckman lost the championship match, 13-3.
- Third-place finishers were senior Stuart Donlan at 141 pounds and senior Jay Shaull at 174 pounds.
- Placing fourth were junior Robert Davids at 133 pounds, senior Tyler Herrema at 149 pounds and sophomore Gideon Loewen at 184 pounds.
