Four Olivet College women’s golfers named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team
Four Olivet College women’s golfers -- Brooke Kastamo, Kirstin Langer, Adrienne Plourde and Allyson Schultz have been named to the 2013-14 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Four Olivet College women's golfers -- Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland), Kirstin Langer (Battle Creek/Pennfield), Adrienne Plourde (Livonia/Redford Thurston) and Allyson Schultz (Traverse City/Central) have been named to the 2013-14 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team. Plourde graduated in May, while Kastamo and Langer will be juniors in 2014-15, and Schultz will be a sophomore. Plourde earned the honor for four straight years, while Kastamo and Langer are two-time selections.
The criteria for selection are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The student-athlete must have a a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average and she must have also competed in 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds.
Kastamo is majoring in exercise science, Langer is a biology major. Plourde majored in sports and recreation management, and Schultz is an actuarial science major. The quartet helped the Comets win the 2013 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship and finish in 11th-place at the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships. Plourde was the 2013 MIAA Most Valubable Golfer and earned first-team All-MIAA honors three consecutive years. Kastamo was a second-team All-MIAA pick in 2012 and 2013.
