Damico earns medalist honors to help women’s golf team win MIAA Jamboree #1
Senior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) earned medalist honors and the Olivet College women’s golf team won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree this afternoon at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
MARSHALL, Mich. – Senior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) earned medalist honors and the Olivet College women's golf team won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree this afternoon at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
The Comets posted a 329 team score to beat runner-up Saint Mary's (Ind.) College by 12 strokes. Calvin was third at 347, followed by Hope, 360; Trine, 366; Adrian, 378; Albion, 399; Alma, 409; and Kalamazoo, 432.
Overall, Olivet's top four golfers all finished in the Top 10 of the player standings. Damico was the medalist with a 78. Senior Adrienne Plourde (Livonia/Redford Thurston) was part of a three-way tie for second with an 80. Sophomore Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) and two others shared sixth-place with an 85. Sophomore Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) tied for ninth with an 86. Senior Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) carded a 96.
The school with the lowest cumulative total after six MIAA rounds will be crowned the 2013 MIAA champions. The next league jamboree will take place Saturday afternoon at the Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo.
