Women’s golf team finishes in second-place at 2005 MIAA Championships
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in second-place today at the 2005 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships. Albion College hosted the two-day, 36-hole event at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
Comets are second in final MIAA standings, three golfers earn All-MIAA honors
The Olivet College women's golf team finished in second-place today at the 2005 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships. Albion College hosted the two-day, 36-hole event at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
The Comets carded a 692 (342-350) team score and Saint Mary's was first at 688 (352-336). In the final MIAA standings, Olivet finished in second-place with a 348.0 average in five MIAA rounds. Saint Mary's was crowned the 2005 MIAA champs with a 342.6 average.
In addition, freshman Trisha McKim (DeWitt) and Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) have earned 2005 first-team All-MIAA honors. Junior Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union) is a second-team All-MIAA golfer.
At this weekend's championships, Pipkin had a 168 (82-86). Sophomore Jennifer Lambarth (Saline) was next at 174 (83-91). McKim and sophomore Amanda Sanders (Concord) each had a 176. Senior Katie Edick (Charlotte) rounded out the Olivet starting five with a 181 (92-89).
Olivet concludes its 2005 fall season next Sunday-Monday, Oct. 16-17, when it participates in the Franklin (Ind.) College Invitational at The Legends of Indiana Golf Course in Indianapolis.
