Women’s golf team breaks school record and wins Jon Spiess Memorial Tournament
The Olivet College women’s golf team broke the school record and captured the team championship today at the Jon Spiess Memorial Tournament at the Ironwood Golf Club in Wauseon, Ohio.

The Comets carded a team score of 314 strokes to break the old record by eight strokes. Olivet had a 322 at the Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) Invitational on Sept. 26, 2004. In addition, the 314 score breaks the tournament's record of 315, which was set by Albion College in 2003.
Individually, freshman Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) and sophomore Amanda Sanders (Concord) each had a 76 to break the individual 18-hole school record. Pipkin earned medalist honors after beating Sanders and Kelly Rethman from Tiffin (Ohio) University on the fourth playoff hole.
Following them was sophomore Jennifer Lambarth (Saline) and junior Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union) as each finished at 81. Freshman Trisha McKim (DeWitt) rounded out the Olivet starters at 87.
The Comets are next in action Wednesday afternoon when they participate in the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree. The jamboree is hosted by Calvin College at the Thornapple Pointe Golf Club in Grand Rapids.
