UOlivet ends season with thrilling 68-63 win over Saint Mary’s

OLIVET, Mich. – Senior Kinsley Hatfield drained a three-pointer with 31.3 seconds left, as The University of Olivet women's basketball team closed out the 2025-26 season with a thrilling 68-63 win over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Saint Mary's (Ind.) College today at the Cutler Event Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- There was not much scoring early in the game. The Belles led by four points, 8-4, at the 4:40 mark. Olivet answered with an 8-0 run to take its own four-point lead, 12-8. The Comets led 15-13 at the end of the opening quarter.
- Olivet scored the first four points of the second period to stretch its lead to six points, 19-13. Saint Mary's outscored the Comets, 13-2, over the final seven minutes and 49 seconds of the quarter to take a 26-21 lead at halftime.
- Olivet battled back in the third quarter with a 12-5 run to regain a two-point lead, 33-31. The teams traded baskets for the rest of the period, as the Comets were ahead, 45-42, to start the fourth quarter.
- The Belles began the fourth period on a 9-3 spurt which put them ahead 51-48 at the 5:22 mark. The Comets countered with a 7-0 run for a four-point advantage, 55-51. Olivet continued to hold the lead until Kate Restovich was fouled on a three-point attempt with 51.2 seconds left. She made all three shots to even the score at 62-62.
- Hatfield then nailed the three-pointer from the top of the key to put the Comets ahead. Saint Mary's split two tosses from the free throw line. Junior Drue Allen was fouled and made both free throws with 13.9 ticks showing on the clock. Saint Mary's turned the ball over, which resulted in freshman Madelyn Burdis draining a free throw for the final point.
FOR THE COMETS
- In her final collegiate game, Hatfield scored a team-high 17 points, including 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc.
- Burdis and junior Kaylee Bush each netted 12 points.
- Bush grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Prior to the game, the Comets honored their two seniors – Helena Eley and Kinsley Hatfield – who played in their final collegiate basketball game.
- Hatfield ended her UOlivet career by playing in every possible game, 101, which is the second-most in school history.
