Women’s basketball team drops home game to Adrian, 67-57

- In the first quarter, there were three tied scores and eight lead changes. The largest lead for either was three points. Olivet's three-point was off the opening basket, a three-pointer by sophomore Savannah Pavoni. Adrian lead by three points, 16-13, at the 1:50 mark. Senior Alicia Bullaro scored the final four points to put the Comets ahead 17-16 at the end of the opening quarter.
- To start the second quarter, the Bulldogs put the first four points on the scoreboard. A three-pointer by junior Rachel Swartz leveled the score at 20-20. From there, Adrian went on a 12-2 run to gain the first double digit advantage for either team. Olivet closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to trail by just four points, 32-28, at halftime.
- The Bulldogs doubled their lead in the first 90 seconds of the third quarter. Seven straight Comet points made it a one-point game, 36-35, with 6:04 left in the period. Adrian pushed its lead back to eight points on three occasions, with the last time being 51-43, at the end of the third stanza.
- In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs extended their advantage to as many as 13 points twice. After the last time at 61-48, with 4:08 remaining in the game, Olivet went on a 9-2, to close the gap to six points, 63-57, with 2:24 showing on the clock. Adrian scored the final four points of the game to create the 10-point margin of victory.
- For the game, the Comets had a higher field goal percentage, 36.7 to 33.8. The Bulldogs drained three more baskets from behind the arc, while Olivet sank one more free throw. The difference in the game was Adrian out-rebounded the Comets 55-40, including a 22-11 edge in offensive rebounds.
- Sophomore Zoee Zatarga posted a double-double, 16 points and 10 rebounds, to lead Olivet.
- Bullaro scored 12 points and dished out four the 11 Comet assists.
- Swartz had seven points to go along with 10 rebounds and six blocks.
- Freshman Clara Shoales came off the bench to grab seven rebounds.
- Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Chelsea Palmer's game-high 17.
- Ryle Campbell netted 16 points.
- Makayla Clement and Jordan Phillips each contributed 10 points.
- Clement and Palmer pulled down 13 and 11 rebounds, respectively.
- The Comets travel to play No. 1-ranked Hope College Saturday at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland, starting at approximately 5 p.m. The game is a part of a doubleheader, as the Olivet men will play the Hope men at 3 p.m.
