Women’s basketball team loses 76-40 contest at Lourdes
SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Olivet College women’s basketball team went on the road for a non-conference game and lost 76-40 to Lourdes (Ohio) University tonight at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

- In the first quarter, the Gray Wolves led by 14 points, 22-8. Freshman Clara Shoales drained a pair of free throws in the final minute of the quarter to make the score 22-10. Lourdes extended its lead to 22 points, 34-12, with 4:44 left in the second quarter. The Comets put five of the final seven points on the scoreboard to trail by 19 points, 36-17, at the halftime break.
- In the third period, Olivet cut its deficit down to 11 points twice. After the last time at 42-31 at the 5:24 mark, the Gray Wolves went on a 12-0 run to push its advantage to 23 points. The teams traded baskets in the last 30 seconds of the quarter to maintain the 23-point margin (56-33) to start the fourth quarter.
- The Comets would not get any closer for the rest of the game, as Lourdes outscored them xxx-0 in the first five minutes and 39 seconds of the fourth stanza.
- For the game, Olivet had 16 baskets, with three from three-point territory.
- Senior Alicia Bullaro was the lone Comet to score in double figures, as she had 11 points.
- Sophomore Zoee Zatarga scored eight points.
- Junior Rachel Swartz posted team-highs in rebounds (seven), assists (three) and blocks (three).
- For the game, the Gray Wolves made 31 total baskets, including 13 from behind the three-point arc. Lourdes also had a plus 22 advantage in rebounding, with a 21-7 edge on the offensive glass.
- Logan Ingram led the Gray Wolves with a game-high 17 points, including five baskets from distance.
- Shae Pedroza was next with 14 points.
- Shailyn Miley grabbed a game-best 14 rebounds.
- Gabby Stover added 11 rebounds.
- The Comets play their final game before the Christmas holiday Saturday when they are at Calvin University. Tip-off from Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids is 3 p.m.
