Women’s basketball team lands on WBCA Top 25 Academic Team Honor Roll
The Olivet College women’s basketball team was recognized for its work in the classroom by landing a spot on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Academic Team Honor Roll.
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Olivet College women's basketball team was recognized for its work in the classroom by landing a spot on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Academic Team Honor Roll.
With a 3.544 team grade point average, Olivet was 13th among all NCAA Division III women's basketball programs for the 2015-16 academic year. The Comets were one of two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) teams recognized, as Kalamazoo College was ranked slightly ahead of them in 11th with a 3.555 GPA.
Under the leadership of head coach Nicole Burford, Olivet finished the 2015-16 season with a 13-13 overall record for its fourth straight season with a .500 or better record. The Comets also advanced to the MIAA Tournament semifinals for the fourth straight year.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
