Olivet College’s Campbell and Ciba selected to play in Champions of Character All-Star Basketball Classic, Burford to serve as head coach
Olivet College seniors Kelsey Campbell and Chelsea Ciba have been selected to play in the 8th Annual Champions of Character All-Star Basketball Classic. In addition, Olivet Head Women’s Basketball Coach Nicole Burford will serve as one of the head coaches.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College seniors Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) and Chelsea Ciba (Olivet) have been selected to play in the 8th Annual Champions of Character All-Star Basketball Classic. The game will be played March 26 at Davenport University and tip-off at 6 p.m.
Now that the players have been selected for the game, two teams will be created. Olivet Head Women's Basketball Coach Nicole Burford and her assistant Sharonda Hurd will coach one team and take on a team coached by Mike Williams, head women's basketball coach at Davenport and Linda Nash, head women's basketball coach at Aquinas College. In the past, the game has generally matched players from the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Complex (WHAC) against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) with others mixed in for balance.
Players selected for the game are college seniors and be either from Grand Rapids area or play for area conferences including WHAC, MIAA, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Mid-American Conference and the Big Ten Conference. Fans were encouraged to nominate players who exemplify the five core values of the Champions of Character initiative of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
Along with the Women's All-Star game, there will be a Men's All-Star game played after the women's game at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5 per person or $15 for families, with money raised going to the "Champions of Character Lecturing Initiative." A goal to raise between $5,000 and $7,500 has been set by the sports marketing departments at Davenport and Cornerstone to help this initiative that promotes respect, integrity, responsibility, leadership and sportsmanship to every player, coach, referee, parent and spectator at OK Conference schools
