Making history: Women’s basketball team to host Calvin in MIAA Tournament
The Olivet College women’s basketball team has clinched the No. 2 seed and will host Calvin College in the semifinals of the 2014 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament next Thursday, Feb. 27.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team has clinched the No. 2 seed and will host Calvin College in the semifinals of the 2014 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament Thursday night. Tip-off inside The Cutler Event Center is 7:30 p.m.
The nationally-ranked Comets have a 22-3 overall record, including a 14-2 mark against MIAA opponents, and are hosting a game in the conference tournament for the first time in school history. In addition, the 21 wins and 13 MIAA wins are school records.
Olivet has already beaten Calvin twice in the regular season and looking to beat them one more time to advance to the MIAA Tournament championship game, which will be played Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. That game will be played at the highest remaining seed. Hope College has secured the top seed in the tournament.
Current Olivet College students will be admitted to the semifinal game free of charge with an ID. Students are encouraged to walk to The Cutler Event Center to leave the parking lot open for our guests. Olivet College faculty and staff are $5 per person with ID, and all others are $7 each.
