Women’s basketball team selected third in MIAA preseason poll
The Olivet College women’s basketball team has been selected third in the 2013-14 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team has been selected third in the 2013-14 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Comets and Calvin College shared a first-place vote, with Olivet receiving 21 total points. Defending MIAA co-champion Hope College garnered the other eight first-place votes for eight points. Calvin was second with 15 points. Adrian College was fourth with 38 points.
Led by senior captains Kelsey Campbell (Olivet), Chelsea Ciba (Olivet) and Heather Lauwers (Ortonville/Brandon), Olivet kicks off the 2013-14 season next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16 at the College of Mount St. Joseph Tip-Off Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Comets will play Kenyon (Ohio) College Friday night at 6 p.m., with the consolation and championship games set for Saturday afternoon at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively.
