Under the direction of Head Coach Nicole Burford, the 2012-13 Olivet College women’s basketball team has been named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Academic Honor Roll.
ATLANTA, Ga. – Under the direction of Head Coach Nicole Burford, the 2012-13 Olivet College women's basketball team has been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Academic Honor Roll.
The Comets posted a 3.479 team GPA for the academic year, which ranked No. 22. Olivet is ranked for the first time in school history.
The GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of quality points earned by the total number of hours attempted by all team members in the academic terms (semesters or quarters) that the season spans. Weighted grades are converted to a 4.0 scale. The GPAs are then rounded to the nearest thousandth of a point. Teams are nominated for the honor by a WBCA-member head coach. A team must have a 3.000 or better GPA to be nominated.
The Comets are one of three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools to receive this honor. Hope is No. 7 (3.546 GPA) and Calvin is No. 20 (3.485 GPA).
