Olivet College’s Campbell earns second-team All-MIAA honors
Olivet College sophomore guard Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) has been named to the 2011-12 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team for women’s basketball.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore guard Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) has been named to the 2011-12 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team for women's basketball. All-league honors are based on a player's statistics during the 16-game MIAA schedule.
Campbell started all 16 games for the Comets and averaged 9.5 points per game (ppg). She also ranked first in the MIAA in total assists (81) and assists per game (5.06). Campbell was also in the top 10 in steals (26), steals per game (1.63), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.25) and minutes played (31.4). Her single-game highs were 21 points at Trine (Ind.) University Jan. 21 and at Adrian College Feb. 1, and 12 assists versus Albion College Jan. 14.
For the entire 25-game schedule, Campbell started every game, leading the team in scoring at 9.4 ppg, three-pointers made (33) and free throws made (52). In addition, she broke the college's single-season assists record with 135.
Under the direction of second-year Head Coach Nicole Burford, the Comets finished the season with a 7-18 overall record and tied for sixth in the MIAA standings with a 5-11 mark.
