The teams traded baskets for the first seven minutes, 30 seconds, before the Thunder pulled away for a seven-point lead, 15-8, with 9:42 left before halftime. Olivet got its deficit down to two points twice. A three-pointer put Trine ahead by five points, 24-19, at the break. In second half, the Comets made it a one-point game on two occasions with the last time being at the 17:51 mark. The 22-point margin of victory was the Thunder's largest lead of the game.
Senior Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) and sophomore Olivia Yarrell (Lansing/Sexton) each scored 10 points for Olivet. Yarrell and junior Stephanie Spehar (South Lyon) shared game-high honors with seven rebounds apiece.
For Trine, Danielle Senf scored a game-high 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Sydney Spragg and Jennifer Wall pulled down a team-leading six rebounds.
Olivet returns home to face Albion College Saturday at 3 p.m.
