Women’s basketball team lets lead slip away in 62-60 loss to Adrian
The Olivet College women’s basketball team let a second-half lead slip away, as Adrian College rallied to beat the Comets, 62-60, tonight in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest inside The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

Olivet raced out to a 12-point lead, 22-10, with 12:16 remaining in the first half. Adrian came back and made it a 4-point game three times, including 36-32 at halftime. In the second half, the Comets maintained their lead until the 9:05 mark when the Bulldogs made two free throws for a 49-48 lead. After an Adrian layup, Olivet hit three straight baskets to regain the lead at 54-51 with 6:12 left in regulation.
The Bulldogs nailed a 3-pointer to tie the game at took the lead for good on a free throw. Olivet missed two free throws and two baskets in the final 1:15 of the game, which would have tied the game.
Junior Caitlin Thilo (Onondaga/Eaton Rapids) came off the bench and scored a season-high 15 points to lead the Comets. Sophomore Olivia Yarrell (Lansing/Sexton) joined her in double figures with 14 points. Playing in her final home game, senior Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Adrian placed three players in double figures, led by Jennifer Perrin's 19 points. Ashley McClarren added 13 and Katie Ross finished with 11. Elysia Norris and Anita Stamps pulled down seven rebounds apiece.
Olivet will play its final two regular season games on the road, beginning Saturday at Alma College. Game time is 3 p.m.
