Women's basketball team loses to MIAA-rival Albion, 60-44

In the first half, Olivet (6-8, 2-3 MIAA) led by as many as seven points, 13-6, at the 13:10 mark when senior Shannon Tennant (Saginaw/Arthur Hill) made a layup off an inbounds pass from freshman Sam Keiffer (Brighton). The Britons answered with eight consecutive points to take a 14-13 lead. The Comets regained the lead on a three-pointer and held that lead until there was 3:35 left before halftime. Albion took a 29-28 lead into the locker rooms.
Olivet scored the first basket of the second half. The Britons took the lead back and stretched the margin to double figures with the final margin being their largest lead.
Senior center Emily Brown (Muskegon/Mona Shores) led all Comets with 15 points. Junior Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) posted game-high honors in rebounds (14) and assists (five).
Brittany Kemperman came off the bench to score a team-leading 19 points for Albion (7-6, 2-3 MIAA). Nicole Dennis added 14 points, while Patricia Rewa had a team-high nine rebounds.
Olivet is back in action Wednesday, Jan. 14, when it hosts Trine (Ind.) University in the first game of a women's/men's basketball doubleheader at 6 p.m. The Comet will play Albion after the women's game at approximately 8 p.m.
