The Olivet College women’s basketball team was defeated by Trine (Ind.) University, 71-45, today at Hershey Hall in Angola, Indiana.
The Olivet College women's basketball team was defeated by Trine (Ind.) University, 71-45, today at Hershey Hall in Angola, Indiana.
In the first half, there were five tied scores. Following the last one at 18-18 at the 3:54, the Thunder ended the half with a 6-2 run to take a 24-20 lead into the locker rooms. In the second half, Trine stretched its lead to as many as 31 points.
Senior Emily Brown (Muskegon/Mona Shores) was the only Olivet player in double figures with 10 points. The Comets out-rebounded the Thunder, 32-29, as junior Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) had a game-high 10 rebounds.
Sarah Howe led the Thunder with 20 points and eight rebounds. Jordan Loveberry added 11 points.
Olivet returns to the court Wednesday, Feb. 11, when it hosts Alma College at 6 p.m. in the first game of a women's/men's basketball doubleheader. Immediately following the women's game, the Comet men will play Kalamazoo College.
