Women's basketball team loses to No. 1 Hope, 65-48

Hope jumped out to a 24-9 lead with five minutes left before halftime. The Comets closed the half with a 8-1 run to trail by only eight points, 25-17, at the intermission. In the second half, Olivet cut its deficit down to four points, 30-26, at the 15:18 mark when junior forward Lauren Fishwick (Trenton) made a three-pointer.
For the game, sophomore Nykole Pfaff (Goodrich/Powers Catholic) was the only Comet in double figures, scoring 10 points. Senior Jaime Kowalczyk (Wyandotte/Roosevelt) finished with nine points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) also grabbed eight rebounds.
For Hope, Courtney Knox was a spark off the bench, scoring 13 points and pulling down eight rebounds in 19 minutes. Lindsay Lange and Philana Greene had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Olivet stays on the road and will play at Calvin College Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
