Women’s basketball team loses to No. 1 Hope, 79-58
The Olivet College women’s basketball team fell to Hope College, 79-58, tonight in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest at the Upton Center in Olivet. The Flying Dutch (21-0, 13-0 MIAA) entered the game ranked No. 1 in both the D3hoops.com and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association Top 25 polls.

Junior Emily Brown (Muskegon/Mona Shores) and sophomore Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) each scored eight points for the Comets (8-13, 6-7 MIAA). Senior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge), sophomore Nykole Pfaff (Goodrich/Powers Catholic) and freshman Ameina Ross (Lansing/Everett) had seven points a piece. Brackenwagen also dished out a team-leading five assists and made three steals. Senior Jaime Kowalczyk (Wyandotte/Roosevelt) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Olivet, who out-rebounded Hope, 50-38.
Off the bench, Courtney Knox led the Flying Dutch with a double-double, 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jordyn Boles, Philana Greene and Julie Henderson all scored 10 points.
The Comets return to the court Saturday afternoon when they host Calvin College at 3 p.m.
