Women’s basketball team falls to Hope 78-51 in semifinals of 2006 MIAA Tournament
The Olivet College women’s basketball team wrapped-up its season with a 78-51 loss to Hope College tonight in the semifinals of the 2006 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland. The Comets end the 2005-06 campaign with a 13-14 overall record.

The Comets end the 2005-06 campaign with a 13-14 overall record.
Following a 16-16 tie at the 9:18 mark of the first half, the Flying Dutch (26-1) went on 12-2 run to take a 28-18 lead. Hope stretched its lead to 13 points on two occasions, including 38-25 at halftime. The Dutch led by as many as 27 points twice in the second half.
Junior Jennifer O'Neil (Auburn Hills/Avondale) was the only Olivet player in double figures with 19 points. She also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore Jaime Kowalczyk (Wyandotte/ Roosevelt) contributed nine points.
Bria Ebels topped Hope with a game-high 24 points. Jordyn Boles added 12 points. Ellen Wood came off the bench and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
The Dutch advance to the MIAA Tournament championship game Saturday, Feb. 25, against Calvin College at 3 p.m. Calvin defeated Alma College, 63-52, in the other semifinal game.
