Women’s basketball team falls to Calvin, 81-60

The Knights (20-3, 13-2 MIAA) went up by five points twice, including 14-9 at the 13:34 mark of the first half. In a span of 1:30, the Comets (12-12, 8-7 MIAA) went on a 6-0 run to take a one-point lead, 15-14. Calvin came back and took a six-point lead on two occasions. The last one was 27-21 with 4:40 left before halftime.
Olivet answered with a seven-point scoring spurt to go up by a point at the 1:55 mark. The Knights ended the first half with a 7-2 run to take a 34-30 lead at the break. Calvin did not relinquish its lead in the second half, going up by as many as 24 points with 14 seconds left.
Graham's 20 points came on six-of-16 shooting from the floor and seven-of-nine from the free throw line. Junior Jen O'Neil (Auburn Hills/Avondale) joined her in double figures with 17 points. Senior Courtney Ivan (Belleville) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds, including six off the offensive glass. Sophomore Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) dished out four of Olivet's 11 assists.
Kristi Brummel and Marcia Harris topped the Knights with 17 points apiece. Lisa Winkle posted a double-double, 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The 2005-06 regular season ends for the Comets Saturday, Feb. 18, when they play at Kalamazoo College at 3 p.m.
