Women’s basketball team loses to No. 7 Hope, 70-56
The Olivet College women’s basketball team dropped a 70-56 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Hope College, 70-56, this evening at the Upton Center in Olivet. Despite the loss, junior Audrey Graham (Battle Creek/Lakeview) scored 13 points to become Olivet’s single-season scoring leader with 413 points.

The Olivet College women's basketball team dropped a 70-56 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Hope College, 70-56, this evening at the Upton Center in Olivet. Despite the loss, junior Audrey Graham (Battle Creek/Lakeview) scored 13 points to become Olivet's single-season scoring leader with 413 points. The previous record was 407 by Laura Oestreich in 1991-92.
In the first half, the Comets (12-10, 8-5 MIAA) led by as many as 10 points, 22-12, at the 6:38 mark when Graham made a jumper. The Flying Dutch (21-1, 13-0 MIAA) battled back and tied the game at 29-29 with 1:38 left before halftime. At the break, Olivet had a 32-30 lead.
Hope, ranked No. 7 in the latest d3hoops.com Top 25 poll, opened the second half with a 10-3 run to go up by five points. Following two lead changes and three tied scores, Sarah Jurik nailed a three-pointer for a 49-46 Dutch lead. They did not relinquish that lead for the remainder of the game.
Graham's 13 points led Olivet. She was joined in double figures by junior Jen O'Neil (Auburn Hills/Avondale) with 11 and senior Gina Willard (Casnovia/Kent City) with 10. O'Neil also grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Jordyn Boles and Bria Ebels paced the Hope with 18 and 15 points, respectively. Ebels pulled down seven rebounds.
The Comets will travel to play Alma College Saturday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m.
