Women's basketball team beats Alma, 71-54
The Olivet College women's basketball team out-rebounded Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College, 41-18, en route to a 71-54 victory over the Scots this afternoon at Cappaert Gymnasium in Alma.

In the first half, the Lady Comets (8-13, 2-9 MIAA) built a seven-point lead twice, including with 15:28 left. Alma (11-9, 4-6 MIAA) rallied back to take a five-point lead, 25-20, at the 6:58 mark. Olivet used a 15-4 run to lead, 35-29, at halftime. The Comets led by as many as 20 points on three occasions in the second half.
Senior guard Molly Lipton (Ann Arbor/Pioneer High School) paced four Olivet players in double figures with 19 points. Sophomore center Amanda Johnston (Mt. Morris/Genessee High School) and freshman forward Stephanie Smith (Waldron/Camden Frontier High School) contributed 16 points apiece and junior guard Emily Fix (New Buffalo/Comstock Park High School) added 11. Fix and Johnston each grabbed 13 rebounds.
Olivet will next be in action on Tuesday, Feb. 10 when it travels to play MIAA rival Albion College. Tip-off from Kresge Gym is 7:30 p.m.
Karen Hall scored 19 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead Alma.
