Lady Comets Fall to Aquinas, 65-39, in First Round of the 2002 OC Comet Classic
The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Aquinas College, 65-39, tonight in the first round of the 2002 Olivet College Comet Classic at the Upton Center. With the loss, the Lady Comets' record drops to 1-2 overall. Olivet plays Concordia University tomorrow in the second round of the Comet Classic at 3 p.m.
OLIVET, MI. -- The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Aquinas College, 65-39, tonight in the first round of the 2002 Olivet College Comet Classic at the Upton Center. With the loss, the Lady Comets' record drops to 1-2 overall. Olivet plays Concordia University tomorrow in the second round of the Comet Classic at 3 p.m.
In the first half, Aquinas led by nine points on two occasions with the last time being with eight minutes left. The Comets then battled back over the next four minutes and cut the Aquinas lead to three points at 23-20. At halftime, Aquinas led 29-25. In the second half, Olivet was unable to get any closer and trailed by as many 26 points.
Despite the loss, senior forward Louisa Grill (Williamston High School) led the Lady Comets with a game-high 14 points. She also shared game-high honors with 16 rebounds. Heather Orr paced Aquinas with 13 points. Chris Koselansky had 16 rebounds.
In the other game of the Comet Classic, Albion College defeated Concordia, 75-47. The Britons were led by Vanessa Thompson with 16 points and Jocelyn Zappala with 10 rebounds.
Following its game tomorrow, Olivet will travel to play Rochester College next Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.
