UOlivet drops doubleheader at Kalamazoo, 8-0 and 8-4

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Olivet softball team suffered two losses to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Kalamazoo College, 8-0 and 8-4, today at the K College Softball Field.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Hornets scored two runs in each of the first four innings. Olivet was held to two hits, singles by freshman Jo Ellen Holbrook and senior Shaelyn Lampinen. Sophomore Alisha Gahn was the losing pitcher after giving up six runs (two earned) on 10 hits over the first three innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Kalamazoo took a 6-0 lead behind one run in the first inning and five runs in the second inning. The Comets closed the gap to 6-4 after they scored two runs in the third, and one run in the fourth and fifth innings. The Hornets added two insurance runs in the sixth and struck out the side in the seventh to post the 8-4 win.
- Olivet had three hits, including a double by junior Alexis Bond. The other hits were singles by Holbrook and freshman Elliott Jarvi. Jarvi was tagged with the pitching loss, yielding eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits and five walks over five and two-third innings.

- Olivet ends the season tomorrow when it travels to Adrian College for two games, starting at 3 p.m.
