UOlivet swept at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The University of Olivet softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader, 19-2 and 8-5, at Franklin (Ind.) College this afternoon at Behrens Field.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Grizzlies scored 12 runs in the first inning before adding two more runs in the second to take a 14-0 lead. Olivet scored a run in the third inning on a wild pitch. Franklin scored its final five runs in the home half of the third. The Comets plated their last run in the fourth.
- Junior Haylie Wenke had Olivet's lone base hit.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- After the Comets left the bases loaded in the top half of the first, the Grizzlies responded with a two-run triple in the bottom half of the inning. Olivet scored once in the second and another run in the third to tie the score.
- Franklin answered with five runs over the next three innings to take a 7-2 lead. Both teams scored a run in the sixth. The Comets pushed across two runs in the seventh.
- At the plate, junior Alexis Bond was 3-for-4 with three singles. Freshman Jo Ellen Holbrook also went 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. She also scored two runs.
UP NEXT
- The Comets travel to play a doubleheader at Manchester (Ind.) University on Tuesday afternoon. The first pitch from game one is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The day of the doubleheader has been moved up due the weather forecast for the originally scheduled day on Thursday.
