UOlivet suffers 7-0 and 11-7 losses at Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. – The University of Olivet softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader, 7-0 and 11-7, against Earlham College (Ind.) this afternoon at Ellie Bewley Softball Stadium.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- After a scoreless first three innings, the Quakers scored four runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to post the 7-0 win. The Comets were held to one hit, a single by junior Alexis Bond in the first inning. Sophomore Megan Cox suffered the pitching loss after yielding four runs (three earned) on six hits over the first four innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- After Earlham took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the second inning, the Comets scored two runs in the top half of the third. The Quakers responded with five runs in their half of the third to regain the lead, 6-2. Olivet countered with a five-run fifth to take the lead back, 7-6. Earlham answered with five runs in the sixth and then retired the Comets on seven pitches in the seventh to post the 11-7 win.
- At the plate, Olivet was held to four hits, including two by junior Haylie Wenke. Junior Olivia Burt and senior Shaelyn Lampinen scored two runs apiece. Freshman Elliott Jarvi was the losing pitcher after giving up seven runs on seven hits and five walks over three innings.

- Olivet wraps-up its trip to Indiana with a doubleheader at Franklin College tomorrow, starting at 11 a.m. The start time was moved up two hours due to the weather forecast for later in the day.
