UOlivet drops two games at Centre Round-Robin Tournament

DANVILLE, Ky. – The University of Olivet softball team fell to Asbury University (Ky.) and the host Colonels today at the second day of the Centre College (Ky.) Round-Robin Tournament. Asbury scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 win and Centre posted an 11-3 run-rule victory.

VS. ASBURY
- The Comets scored an unearned run in the first inning before adding two runs in the third. The Eagles plated two runs and left the bases loaded in the bottom half of the third. Asbury filled the bases, again, in the fourth but a strikeout ended the inning. The Eagles left two more runners stranded in the fifth. Asbury hit a two-run walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh.
- For the game, Olivet had nine hits. Junior Alexis Bond and freshman Mia Thurman both went 2-for-4. The lone extra base hit was a pinch-hit double by sophomore Kyleigh Ramos. Senior Shaelyn Lampinen drove in two runs. Sophomore Megan Cox was charged with the pitching loss. She allowed four runs on nine hits and one walk over six and one-third innings.
VS. CENTRE
- The Colonels led 7-0 behind three runs in the first and four runs in the second inning. Olivet pushed across two runs in top of the fourth inning before Centre plated four runs in the bottom half of the frame. The Comets scored their final run in the fifth inning.
- For the game, Olivet totaled five hits. Senior Corina Hernandez was 2-for-3 with two singles and a stolen base. Bond had a hit and sacrifice fly. The other two runs were driven in by freshmen Mia Thurman and Mya Wiggins. Sophomore Alisha Gahn suffered the pitching loss, giving up six runs on five hits over the first inning.

- Olivet is scheduled to play a doubleheader on Thursday at Grace Christian University. First pitch from game one is set for 2 p.m.
