OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet softball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College in a doubleheader this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex. The Britons won the first game 11-0 on Friday before the second game was halted due to lightning. When play resumed, Albion scored two runs in the sixth inning to post the 6-5 come-from-behind win.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Britons batted around and scored five runs in the first inning. The Comets left two runners stranded in the second inning. Albion added two more runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth for the 11-0 mercy-rule win.
- Olivet was held to one hit, a single by sophomore Olivia Burt. Freshman Cayla Konop suffered the pitching loss after giving up nine runs (seven earned) on 11 hits over the first four innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- The first two Comets reached safely on hits in the first inning. The Britons got out of the jam without any runners crossing the plate. Albion left a runner on base in both the first and second innings.
- Olivet scored its run in the top of the third. Sophomore Haylie Wenke hit a single before going to third base on a throwing error by the third baseman on freshman Alisha Gahn's batted ball. Senior Mattie Akom RBI-ground out scored Wenke.
- Albion started its half of the third inning with a single. A ground out moved the runner to second. After a strikeout, an infield single put runners on the corners. Play was then suspended due to the lightning in the area, followed by a heavy rain shower.
- Play restarted on Sunday afternoon. The Albion batter swung on the first pitch to end the inning. In the top of fourth, Olivet took a 2-0 lead when sophomore Katie Rugg blasted a solo home run over the leftfield fence. The Britons answered with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth.
- The Comets used a two-out rally to push across three runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. Sophomore Alexis Bond laced a two-run single to score Gahn and junior Shaelyn Lampinen. Freshman Avery Lowell ripped a double to score Bond.
- Albion got one run back in the last part of the fifth before scoring the tying and go-ahead runs in the sixth inning. Olivet left the tying run stranded on base in the seventh inning.
- At the plate, Gahn was 3-for-4. Wenke had two hits. In the circle, Gahn was charged with the loss. She gave up all six runs (four earned) on 11 hits over five and two-thirds innings.
