WHEATON, Ill. – The University of Olivet softball team was swept by Wheaton (Ill.) College in a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon at the Ruth Leedy Field. The Thunder won both gmaes, 10-2, in five innings.
THE BASICS

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Thunder scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning. Olivet tied the score in the third inning when sophomore Zola Smith walked, stole second base and came around to score on sophomore Alexis Bond's two-run home run over the fence in left-center field. Wheaton plated seven runs in the fourth and one more run in the fifth to end the game early due to the mercy rule.
- For the game, the Comets had three hits – Bond's home run, and singles by senior Mattie Akom and freshman Cayla Konop. In the circle, Konop suffered the pitching loss after giving up the first five runs (three earned) on six hits over three and one-third innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Olivet seized a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI-single by sophomore Olivia Burt and RBI-double by junior Shaelyn Lampinen. The Thunder responded with six runs in the bottom half of the second. Wheaton closed out the scoring with two runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth for the run-rule victory.
- For the game, the Comets recorded six hits, including a 2-for-2 performance by Akom. Extra-base hits were Lampinen's double and a double by sophomore Haylie Wenke. Freshman Alisha Gahn was the losing pitcher after yielding eight runs (two earned) on six hits over three and one-third innings.

- Olivet heads to the west side of Michigan for a doubleheader next Tuesday, April 1, against Grace Christian University. First pitch from game one is slated for 3 p.m.
