The Olivet College softball team swept a doubleheader from Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College this afternoon at Dempsey Field in Albion. In the opener, the Comets belted a season-high 19 hits en route to a 12-4 six-inning mercy rule victory. In the nightcap, Olivet jumped out to a 5-0 lead and hung for a 5-3 win.

The Olivet College softball team posted two shutout victories today at the Gene Cusic Classic. In the first game, the Comets (6-0) beat New Jersey City University, 9-0, in six innings, and in the second game, they defeated Worcester Polytechnic (Mass.) Institute, 8-0, in five innings.

The Olivet College softball team extended its winning streak to four games with two wins today at the Gene Cusic Classic. The Comets won their first game, 7-1, over Rockford (Ill.) College and then beat Wheelock (Mass.) College, 6-0, in their second game.

Softball team opens season with two wins at Gene Cusic Classic

The Olivet College softball team opened the 2009 season with two wins at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. In their first game, the Comets had 18 hits en route to a 17-1 win over Elms (Mass.) College, and in the second game, they beat Drew (N.J.) University, 14-1. Both games ended after five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.
