Shunkwiler selected to the 2005 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America softball team
Olivet College senior catcher Beth Shunkwiler (Berrien Center/Berrien Springs) has been named to the 2005 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-America third-team.
Olivet College senior catcher Beth Shunkwiler (Berrien Center/Berrien Springs) has been named to the 2005 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-America third-team. Shunkwiler is the first player in school history to earn All-America honors.
Shunkwiler had a .390 batting average with a team-high 14 doubles and nine home runs for a .740 slugging percentage. Her nine home runs and 50 RBIs are new single-season school records. Shunkwiler leaves Olivet as its all-time leader with 26 doubles, nine home runs, 61 RBIs and .616 slugging percentage.
Shunkwiler earned 2005 first-team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Central Region honors. She is also a two-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) first-team pick.
Olivet ended the 2005 season with a 22-16 overall record and was fourth in the MIAA with a 11-5 mark.
