Anderson named MIAA Pitcher of the Week
Junior Erica Anderson (Casnovia/Kent City) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Week for April 24-30. She is being honored for the second time this season.
Junior Erica Anderson (Casnovia/Kent City) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Week for April 24-30. She is being honored for the second time this season.
Anderson had a 4-0 record last week for the Lady Comets. Three of her victories were complete game performances, including one over MIAA regular season champion Alma College April 30, and the fourth win was in relief. In 22 and two-thirds innings, Anderson had 13 strikeouts while allowing eight earned runs.
For the season, Anderson has a 14-5 record and 1.38 ERA in 126 and two-thirds innings. She has struck out 83 batters and opponents have a .200 batting average against her. In addition, Anderson has 31 career wins to tie Olivet's all-time record set by Jessica Davenport from 1998-2000.
Anderson and the Comets (22-12, 11-5 MIAA) will travel to Alma College for the 2005 MIAA Tournament Thursday and Friday, May 5-6. Olivet, the #4 seed, will play Alma at 1 p.m. The other first-round game features Calvin and Hope colleges at 11 a.m
