Softball Team Sweeps Doubleheader at Defiance
The Olivet College softball team swept a doubleheader at non-conference foe Defiance (Ohio) College today. Junior Kim Horanburg (Grand Ledge High School) hit a two-run homer as the Lady Comets came from behind to win the first game, 2-1. In the second game, Olivet had 12 hits to win the game, 8-0.

DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Olivet College softball team swept a doubleheader at non-conference foe Defiance (Ohio) College today. Junior Kim Horanburg (Grand Ledge High School) hit a two-run homer as the Lady Comets came from behind to win the first game, 2-1. In the second game, Olivet had 12 hits to win the game, 8-0.
The first game was a pitcher's dual between Olivet freshman Erica Anderson (Casnovia/Kent City High School) and Defiance senior Sarah Harman. Anderson tossed a complete game three-hitter. She allowed an unearned run, walked two and struck out six. Harman gave up four base hits.
The Yellow Jackets scored their run in the second inning. The Lady Comets scored their runs in the fourth inning. Junior Kari Munson (Lansing Eastern High School) led off the inning with a double to right centerfield. Horanburg then hit her home run over the right centerfield fence on an 0-1 count. Senior Jamie Hinkle (Rossford High School) had the other two hits for Olivet.
In the nightcap, junior Stacey Dulinski (Manistee High School) pitched all seven innings, allowing four base hits and striking out nine batters. The Comets scored a run in the first inning before adding three runs in both the third and fourth innings. Olivet closed out the scoring with a run in the seventh.
At the plate, Munson was three-for-three with a two-run double in the third inning. Senior Amy Hillis (Morley High School), junior Theresa Flowers (Waterford/ Kettering High School) and freshman Amanda Johnston (Mt. Morris Genesee High School) collected two hits a piece. Flowers and Johnston drove in three and two runs, respectively. Hillis scored three runs.
Olivet will host Huntington (Ind.) College in a non-league doubleheader on Friday, April 23 at 3:30 p.m.
