Softball Team Loses Two Games Against MIAA Leader Alma College
The Olivet College softball team lost two games against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leader Alma College today. The Lady Comets fell 3-2 in the first game, and lost the second game 9-7 in eight innings.

ALMA, Mich. -- The Olivet College softball team lost two games against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leader Alma College today. The Lady Comets fell 3-2 in the first game, and lost the second game 9-7 in eight innings.
In the first game, Alma jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Olivet (12-15, 6-5 MIAA) tallied a single run in the fourth inning. After scoring a run, the Comets left the bases loaded in the fifth.
At the plate, senior shortstop Amy Hillis (Morley High School) was three for four with a run scored. Junior first baseman Kim Horanburg (Grand Ledge High School) had a pair of hits. Both juniors Theresa Flowers (Waterford/ Kettering High School) and Jenna Little (Ortonville/Brandon High School) drove in a Comet run. Junior Stacey Dulinski (Manistee High School) pitched all seven innings. She allowed seven hits and three earned runs.
In the second game, the Comets trailed 7-4 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. Junior second baseman Kari Munson (Lansing Eastern High School) hit a two-run home run and freshman designated player Amanda Johnston (Mt. Morris Genesee High School) hit a solo homer to force extra innings. Alma won the game in extra innings with its fifth home run of the contest.
Horanburg, Johnston, Munson and sophomore center fielder Jill Shufelt (Millington High School) had two hits a piece for Olivet. Munson and Johnston drove in three and two runs, respectively. Dulinski suffered the loss after pitching the final two and two-thirds innings.
Olivet will travel to play Defiance (Ohio) College on Wednesday, April 23. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 3:30 p.m.
