Softball Team Defeats Adrian, 5-4; Second game suspended because of darkness
The Olivet College softball team defeated Adrian College, 5-4, today in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener. The second game of the doubleheader was suspended because of darkness with the score tied at 2-2 in the seventh inning.

In the first game, the Lady Comets held a 5-2 lead after five innings. The Bulldogs scored two runs and left runners stranded at second and third base in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Sophomore centerfielder Jill Shufelt (Millington High School) was three-for-four with three runs batted-in. Junior third baseman Jenna Little (Ortonville Brandon High School) had two base hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Seniors Amy Hillis (Morley High School) and Corrie Champine (Clare High School) and juniors Theresa Flowers (Watterford/Kettering High School) and Kari Munson (Lansing Eastern High School) also had singles for the Comets. On the mound, junior Stacey Dulinski (Manistee High School) tossed all seven innings. She allowed seven hits and two earned runs.
In the second game, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings. The Comets answered back with a run in the bottom of the second inning and then tied the score on a home run by Flowers to lead off the sixth inning. The game will be finished at a later date determined by the head coach and athletic director from both schools.
Olivet will next be in action on Saturday, April 5, when it hosts Hope College in a MIAA doubleheader. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 1 p.m.
