Softball Team Drops a Doubleheader Against Siena Heights
The Olivet College softball team dropped a pair games today against NAIA foe Siena Heights University. The Lady Comets fell to the Saints, 12-9, in the first game, and lost the second game, 6-4.

OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College softball team dropped a pair games today against NAIA foe Siena Heights University. The Lady Comets fell to the Saints, 12-9, in the first game, and lost the second game, 6-4.
In the first game, Olivet (4-10) jumped out to a 9-3 lead after five innings. Siena Heights rallied to tie the score with six runs in the sixth inning, and then won the game with three runs in the seventh. Senior Amy Hillis (Morley High School) was three-for-five at the plate with a run scored and a run batted-in. Junior Kari Munson (Lansing Eastern High School) hit a grand slam home run for Olivet. In addition, senior Corrie Champine (Clare High School), junior Theresa Flowers (Watterford/ Kettering High School) and Jill Shufelt (Millington High School) all had two hits. Champine also drove in a run and Shufelt scored a run.
In the second game, the Comets held a 3-2 after three innings before the Saints added four runs in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, Olivet scored a run. At the plate, every Olivet starter had at least one hit. Munson and senior Jeana Turcheck (Taylor Truman High School) each had a pair of hits, including a double by each player. Flowers drove in two runs for the Comets. Freshman Erica Anderson (Casnovia/Kent City High School) pitched seven innings, allowing six earned runs and striking out four.
Olivet will next be in action on Saturday, March 29, when it travels to Notre Dame, Indiana to open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play against Saint Mary's College. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 1 p.m.
