Cross country teams host Comet Open

CHARLOTTE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams hosted the Comet Open for its season-opening meet at the Broadway Acres Golf Course in nearby Charlotte. The meet was unscored and featured the Comets along with Jackson College, Kellogg Community College and Lansing Community College.

• Sophomore Kyle Markley placed eighth of 33 runners in the 5K race with a time of 16:56.81.
• Freshman Kyle McDowell was right behind him in ninth at 17:02.18.
• Senior Mark Smith finished 11th with a time of 17:14.31.
• Sophomore Ernesto Gutierrez completed the race in 17:52.18, followed by senior Brad Thomas at 17:57.53.

• Freshman Anselma Barnett was eighth of 25 runners in the 5K event with a time of 22:06.84.
• Senior Zoe Feighner placed 11th at 22:44.72, followed by sophomore Morgan Greenman at 22:47.65.

• Olivet is back in action next Saturday, Sept. 8, when it runs at the Calvin Knight Invite at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids.
