UOlivet downed by Wittenberg in three sets

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's volleyball team fell to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) rival Wittenberg University (Ohio) this afternoon in three sets inside the Cutler Event Center.
THE BASICS
- Final Score: Wittenberg defeated Olivet 25-21, 25-18, 25-21
- Location: Cutler Event Center; Olivet, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 5-17 overall, 0-6 MCVL; Wittenberg 15-5 overall, 4-1 MCVL
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening set, the Tigers led 5-1. The Comets fought back to tie the score at 7-7. Wittenberg scored the next two points and did not relinquish its advantage for the remainder of the set.
- In the second set, the teams traded the first eight points to create four tied scores. After a 4-4 deadlock, the Tigers went on a 3-0 run to hold onto the lead for the rest of the set.
- In the third set, Wittenberg built a five-point cushion, 8-3. Olivet came back to take a pair of one-point leads, 11-10 and 12-11. The Tigers responded with three straight points to seize a 14-12 lead. Wittenberg did not give up the advantage to win the set and match.
FOR THE COMETS
- Freshman Jared Carter recorded five kills, followed by sophomore Payton Hastings with four.
- Freshman Austin Chamblee dished out 15 set assists.
- Carter served four aces.
- Senior Matthew Tollar topped the defense with nine digs.

- Olivet celebrates Senior Night next Friday, March 27, with a home match against Adrian College. The first serve is set for 7 p.m.
