Fremeau named MIAA Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
At the 2026 MIAA Field Day, Fremeau won hammer throw (200 feet, 3 inches) and shot put (56 feet, 6-3/4 inches). The mark in the hammer broke both the UOlivet and MIAA Outdoor Championships record. He also finished seventh in the discus throw (147 feet, 2 inches).
Fremeau is competing at last chance meets this week and next week. He is currently ranked third in the hammer and seventh in the shot put on the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Performance List. The top 22 student-athletes in each event will advance to the NCAA Division III Championships on May 21-23 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
