Fremeau selected MIAA Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Competing at the Albion College Triangular, Fremeau finished first in the hammer throw, shot put and discus throw. His winning mark in the hammer throw (197 feet, 6 inches) broke the UOlivet record and ranks No. 2 on the NCAA Division III Performance List, and the performance in the shot put (55 feet, 11-3/4 inches) is No. 5. These marks also top the MIAA outdoor list.
"Owen had a big meet at our triangular with Albion and Alma," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "After he took a week off after indoor nationals, Owen went out and smashed his personal best in the hammer throw by six meters. He continues to impress every meet as he just gets in the ring and competes."
The Comets are back in action on Friday and Saturday at the College of Wooster (Ohio) Invitational.
