Fremeau voted MIAA Most Valuable Field Athlete
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Following his standout performance at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships, The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau has been voted the Most Valuable Field Athlete.
Fremeau won the MIAA title in the shot put (59 feet, 1/4 inch) and weight throw (63 feet), with MIAA championship records in both events. The mark is the shot put is also an UOlivet record. In addition, Fremeau repeated as MIAA champion in the events. In his Comet career, he has now won eiight MIAA individual events and is a four-time All-MIAA selection.
"I am extremely proud of the work Owen has done this year," said Olivet throws coach Daustin Martin. "He has dedicated himself to shore up his inefficiencies and make himself a more well-rounded thrower. We have really locked in his training for when it matters most, and I am excited to see how well it is going and hope for more big marks in the coming weeks. Owen is one of the hardest workers I know and has earned all the success that has come his way. It really has been special to watch him set these big marks week after week."
Fremeau currently sits No. 4 in the shot put and tied for No. 6 in the weight throw on the NCAA Division III Performance List. The top 20 declared student-athletes will be invited to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championships March 13-14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
