Fremeau named MIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for fourth time

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau has been voted the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Grand Valley State University "Big Friday" Meet. He has earned this honor four times this season.

Fremeau broke the UOlivet indoor records in the shot put and weight throw. He finished first in the open weight throw and third in the invite shot put. Fremeau's performance in the weight throw (63 feet, 1-1/4 inches) sits third on the NCAA Division III Performance list, while the performance in the shot put (57 feet, 3-3/4 inches) is sixth. Both marks are first among MIAA throwers this season.

"Every week, Owen continues to make improvements in his training and competitions," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "I am proud of the work him and Coach (Daustin) Martin continue to put in every day, so Owen can be one of the top throwers in the country."

The Comets travel to Hillsdale College on Saturday for their final tune-up before the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, February 27-28.
