Brown selected MIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet sophomore Alexander Brown has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

At the Central Michigan University Chippewa Invitational, Brown achieved an UOlivet indoor record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 15 feet and 7 inches (4.75 meters). The performance won the event and moved him up to a tie for 19th on the NCAA Division III Performance List.

"It is exciting to watch Alex compete, as he really thrives in a competitive environment," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "He can make any adjustment on the runway that pole vault coach Miranda Smith needs him to make to clear the bar. Alex works hard at practice while still having fun every day.

Brown next competes on Friday at the Grand Valley State University "Big Friday Meet."
